If you grew up in the 80’s, it’s a good chance you roller skated on the weekends for fun. Nowadays, roller skating indoors at a skating rink has become as extinct as the drive-in movie theater, but skating outdoors is still a viable form of fun exercise.

Here are a few good reasons to strap ’em on and get your body moving:

  1. Roller skating provides a complete aerobic workout and involves all of the body’s muscles, especially the heart.
  1. Roller skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits and caloric consumption, reduction of body fat, and leg strength development.
  1. If you roller skate one day, bicycle another, and run on another, the you’ll be getting all the fitness benefits that aerobics can offer.

So dust your skates off, put on some music to groove to, and get your body moving!
