I think one of the BIGGEST challenges with exercise is staying motivated, yes? It’s so easy to make excuses about why you can’t get up and get moving (it’s too cold, it’s too hot, I’m tired, I don’t have time, etc.).
While all of these excuses may be true at the time, they’re not the REAL reason why you don’t want to exercise. The real truth behind every excuse is this:
YOU DON’T WANT TO GIVE UP SOMETHING THAT YOU VALUE (time, sleep, a warm bed, etc) IN EXCHANGE FOR THAT WHICH YOU DON’T (exercise).
So what’s the fix for this?
You have to find a way to value exercise more than your warm bed. Yep, I said it.
Easier said than done, but it can be done, and here’s how:
==> Find an activity that you love so much that it pulls you in, instead of you having to do the pulling.
For me, it’s yoga. Even on the days that it feels like it’s below zero outside (like today!), I still find myself drawn to get moving. I focus on more on the FEELING I have when I’m done, more so than the actual activity and the 30 minute ride to the gym.
When you’re doing what you enjoy, and you love the FEELING it gives you when you do it, there’s no stopping you from getting it done!
What do you love to do, or what did you used to do that you loved and have given it up over the years? DO THAT!
