Body Movement: Swimming

Body Movement: Swimming

For all of my “water babes” out there, this one is for you! Swimming is a great form of body movement and exercise, especially if you’re looking for something that’s low impact. I don’t know about you, but I’m so over the high-impact aerobics, Insanity, and P90X-type programs.

As my boys would say, “You feel me?” 😉

So if you want to get in some exercise that has great cardio benefits, builds endurance, and strengthens your muscles (all while helping you to maintain a healthy weight), swimming is the way to go.

Here are several more benefits of doing a few laps:

  1. Swimming builds bone density (important for us girls over 40)
  1. Swimming increases flexibility
  1. Swimming can lower stress and depression

Let me also say this:

Now isn’t the time to fret over putting on a bathing suit

Seriously, we really need to get past this body image stuff. Get yourself a suit that fits your unique body shape (nobody likes boob or belly spillage) and head to the pool for a few laps. Your body and your mind will be better for it!
