Nourishment: Up Your Anti! (Oxidants)

 

Did you get my play on words here? I’m such a nerd sometimes, lol!!

Anywhooo….let’s talk about antioxidants. I’m sure you’ve heard of them, but maybe you don’t know what they are and why they’re good for you. I’ll break it down for you in simple terms.

Food superhero!

If there ever was a “superhero” in the form of a food, the Antioxidant would be it. “He’s” the one that goes into battle fighting all of the “free radicals” in your body that (when in excess) cause cell damage and inflammation, leading to a host of other not-so-good health conditions.

Free radicals are produced by the body to aid in the metabolic processes, such as digestion and the conversion of food into energy. They are actually quite helpful in many of the body’s natural functions. HOWEVER, when too many are produced, they can turn against you and become a dangerous enemy.

Be your own superhero!

So what you’re responsible for is balancing it all out. Lend a helping hand by upping your ANTIOXIDANTS. You can simply do this by eating plenty of fruits (berries, especially) and vegetables.

Think of it as being a Robin to your Batman.
