I’ve written about this before, but it bears repeating again.


Body acceptance should not be an excuse to remain complacent.


This is a hard truth and may push a few buttons.


Here’s the thing: I used to be 100% on board with body love & self-love. I even created a program around it 4 years ago.


But even now, women are still feeling less-than-confident in their bodies.


And, even worse, there are some who’ve just given up on themselves and their weight loss goals altogether, in the name of Body Acceptance.


This isn’t the solution.


Body acceptance is a MINDSET not the solution.


It’s one very small piece of your health & weight loss journey.


You don’t just stop there. It would be like taking a road trip to California and deciding to stop at the Rest Area and not continue the trip to Disneyland.


The Body Acceptance movement will have you thinking you don’t need to lose weight…and that’s true…kind of.


You don’t need to, but if you want to, there’s nothing wrong with that.


Today I want to encourage you to not give up on yourself for complacency (or the movement).


Instead, here are 3 truths about weight loss that I want you to remember:


  • It’s okay to want a thinner body: Most women feel better, physically and emotionally when they aren’t carrying extra weight


  • You have to work on your THINKING as well as your EATING: A meal plan, without a thought plan, isn’t going to do much for you in the long run


  • It takes work: Anyone who leads you to believe you can change health habits in 21 days, or less, isn’t being 100% honest with you (or themselves)​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​


Again, self-love & self-acceptance is important, but it isn’t the total solution.


Health At Every Size (HAES) is valid and the research proves it. I’ve worked with women who were perfectly healthy, yet overweight.


Whether you have 5lbs to lose or 55lbs to lose, it’s all good. You have the right to choose weight loss as your goal without feeling like it’s a vanity thing.


It’s not vain to want to feel good in your body. Don’t let ’em fool you.
